Why this weekly newsletter is now here, too

Welcome to an experiment.

Camdenist has been running for five years now, first as a classic ‘what’s on’ email, and more recently as my weekly soapbox covering local culture, opinion, events and how creativity is being impacted by global, social and economic trends in this part of London.

It’s always been free for all to read - something that feels important when styled as a community publication - but the model is far from sustainable, even with more partnerships, sponsors and real world events thankfully coming along.

So from this week, Camdenist is also going to be published weekly on Substack. You are very welcome to upgrade to paid to support the cause if you enjoy what I’m doing here.

But almost more importantly, the point of posting on this platform is to grow the readership, taking advantage of the fact that some great writing, writers and readers can be found here, and making it easier to interact with you all and spread the word.
