Adding Camdenist to Substack after 5 years is a bit of an experiment.
I want to see if the ‘social network’ functions of like Notes really can deliver new people interested in my writing, while not basing the title wholly on a platform that is still evolving, for good or evil, at pace.
One immediate frustration is picking up followers (who are lovely, by the way) verses subscribers (who actually become members of the readership community).
As the platform is so focused on monetisation, I assume that people have a natural reluctance to ‘sign up’ each time they read something new, despite the fact that all Camdenist posts are 100% free to read.
So I had a word with our friends at Forest, to see if we could incentivise more of the people who currently follow these posts (that’s you, right?) to hit that subscribe button too.
Accordingly, if you sign up to receive Camdenist for free each week, I’ll mail you a code for 30 mins of riding credit when you join Forest bikes (on top of the 10 free mins every day Forest gives everyone)!
If you don’t like hiring e-bikes, are already a Forest user or are based out of town, you’re very welcome to subscribe anyway, just to show Camdenist some love. It would be great to send you the email every Friday morning as well as you stumble across it occasionally on Substack.
Are you in?
